What are hackathons? what is staff hacks?
Hackathons are programming and design competitions where teams of builders or developers compete to create the best project according to a given prompt, problem, or situation, announced at the start of the competition. Teams race throughout the duration of the competition, while getting to know each other and also mentors who offer critical connections and development insight that stick with competitors for a lifetime.
StaffHacks is our very own free, pre-collegiate level Hackathon hosted in the King County region. The competition lasts for two days (no overnight stay) spanning ~8 hours per day including build times, meal times, and the announcing of winners.
Who can compete?
We welcome all passionate teens from the King County region in middle-school and high-school to compete at StaffHacks!
Participants do NOT need to know how to code to participate; many of the best project builds can be a simple website or a concept design! StaffHacks will also feature mentors and technical teach-ins where our team speakers teach coding, new technologies, and tools to level up your project or future developments.
Why should I join?
Competing in StaffHacks is a super fun way to show off your skills in programming and design and compete for the lucrative winning title! Recognition at prestigious regional programming competitions like ours looks great on resumes, college applications, and CVs for colleges and employers. It's also a great opportunity to mold a passion project in code!
Aside from the code, there will be hundreds of dollars in prizes, entirely free admission, and delicious free food on us!
When and where is StaffHacks being hosted?
StaffHacks will be held on a TBD date sometime in early Autumn, 2024. Our venue will be based in the King-County region, but our precise address is TBD for now, though we have a couple likely candidates ;)
